"Texting while driving is one way to ensure that the police will pull you over!"
This week for our choice article, I read "The Dangers Of Distracted Driving". Overall, it was a pretty good article, not the best, but, good. The main idea of this article was not to drink and drive, but, it was also that the authors wanted you to enter a contest for prevention of distracted driving. A girl from Michigan won and was able to get her idea turned into reality and recored when she won. What a cool opportunity! What the author wants you to get from this article is that texting and other distractions are not something you want to get yourself into, because it could end up backfiring. What could happen is you could severely injure yourself or others. "Traffic crashes are the No. 1 killer of teens in the United States, with more than 5,000 young people dying each year and tens of thousands injured." (Upfront Pg. 20) This is a very high number of people dying because of careless reasons. It's terrible to think that someone died because of doing something so stupid and not thinking about it! Remember that people don't crash just from texting and driving, there is also other ways. Such as, eating while behind the wheel and fixing the radio. Remember to check out the link though! ReplyDeleteGreat Job Julia! I love how you incorporated a link into your righting. It fir perfectly. I feel like you really informed peoplr hoe=w much of an impact distracted driving can make. It feel like a lot of people are getting killed just because of fool ish behavior. I heard about a type of car that only starts when you plug your phone into a charger. Once in the charger it turns your phone off. While in the charger you can not turn your phone back on and once you take it out it will turn off your car. this prevents texting and driving accidents, but people can always just but a car without this piece and this doesn't prevent people from eating while driving or changing the radio.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite post from you so far Julia! I loved how you gave your opinion, shared a link, and attached a picture. It's crazy how so many people are killed each year from something that could have easily been put on hold. Everyday I see so many people on the road on the phone and it effects their driving ability. Not only are their lives in danger but, also other drivers on the road! The video was awesome, it really showed why you shouldn't text and drive.
ReplyDeleteHi Julia, I liked your post! I really liked how you used the link and the photo! I thought you did a great job stating the main idea and using info to back up your answer. However, your spelling and grammar need some work and I actually think that you used talking sentences a little bit too much. Based on Kyle's response, I think that that is REALLY cool and very safe. ReplyDeleteHi Julia, your post was great. There is no way getting around the fact that texting and driving is illeagal. As seen in the video people find it extremely difficult or impossible to text and drive. Overall great response Julia!
